Let’s Find a Way Forward
You don’t need everything figured out before reaching out. Tell me a little bit about what’s happening, and we can begin by considering what support might be helpful.
Questions about Getting Started?
Here are some practical questions you might have, including fees, insurance, scheduling, and what happens after you reach out.
-
We begin with a brief phone call, ideally with you and your teen. We’ll talk about what’s been happening, what kind of support you’re looking for, and whether I may be a good fit. If we decide to move forward, you’ll complete some paperwork, and we’ll schedule the first session. I usually meet with the teen and their parents or caregivers together for that first session so I can hear everyone’s perspective and begin with a shared understanding.
-
I work primarily with teens and the people who care for them. Depending on what would be most helpful, therapy may include individual sessions with the teen, conversations with parents or caregivers, or time together as a family.
-
Most sessions take place in person at 2311 Shelby Ave., Suite 104-A in Ann Arbor Michigan. Virtual sessions are available when needed, but in-person work is generally the norm.
-
My standard fee is $175 per session. I also reserve a limited number of reduced-fee spaces for clients who need a lower rate. We can discuss costs during the initial phone call and determine whether one of those spaces is available.
-
I accept several insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna. Because coverage varies by plan, I encourage families to contact their insurance company to confirm that I am in network and to ask about their mental health benefits, deductibles, and copay or coinsurance. I’m happy to help you understand what questions to ask before we begin.
-
If I don’t accept your insurance, you may choose to pay privately. My standard fee is $175 per session, and I offer a limited sliding scale, based on availability. I can also provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Because every plan is different, I recommend contacting your insurer to ask whether your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits and what portion of the fee may be reimbursed.
-
Availability can shift, so please reach out even if you aren’t sure whether I have an opening. After receiving your message, I’ll let you know whether I currently have a space that fits your scheduling needs. Then, we can arrange a brief phone call to learn more.
-
Once I receive your message, I’ll reach out to arrange a brief phone call. During our chat, I’ll get information from you about what’s been happening, answer your initial question, and discuss working together if it seems like a good fit.
-
If you or your teen needs help right away, please don’t wait for a response through this website. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for immediate crisis. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Reaching out for immediate support is an appropriate next step when the situation cannot safely wait.
What You Can Expect From Me
I won’t rush to decide who’s right or what needs fixing. We’ll take time to understand what’s happening from each person’s perspective. Rather than rushing toward solutions, we’ll move thoughtfully and decide together what support would be most helpful for your teen and family.
Curiosity, not judgment
Honesty, with care
Respect for your teen’s privacy
Support for the entire family
