Teen Therapy
Hey, teen.
Did someone send you this link? Or are you here because you’re curious? Either way, welcome. I’m glad you found your way here.
Growing up is weird.
One day you feel like you’ve got everything figured out. Next, you’re wondering who you are, where you belong, or maybe you just wish everyone would leave you alone.
There’s nothing wrong with you.
You’re growing, changing, and trying to make sense of yourself and the world around you. That’s a big job.
And you don’t have to figure it out alone.
What if You’re Not Broken?
Wait…. What?
Maybe someone has told you that you “need therapy.” Maybe you’ve even wondered if coming here means there’s something wrong with you.
I don’t see it that way.
I think therapy is for people who are trying to make sense of themselves, the people they care about, and the world they are growing up in. That’s not brokenness. That’s being human.
One of my favorite Japanese art forms is kintsugi, where a cracked bowl is repaired with gold. The repair isn’t hidden. It’s honored. The cracks become part of the bowl’s story instead of something to hide.
We all have cracks. We all have experiences that shape us. Those experiences don’t define your worth. They become a part of your story, and your story is still being written.
So bring your whole self. The confident parts. The scared parts. The messy parts. The parts you’re still trying to understand.
All parts are welcome here.
Who Are You Becoming?
You're writing your story every day. Not by having all the answers, but by staying curious. If these sound familiar, you're not alone.
→ I want to believe in myself.
→ I want to stop overthinking everything.
→ I want to stop caring what everyone else thinks.
→ I want to be comfortable being me.
→ I want friends who actually get me.
→ I want my parents to trust me.
→ I want to figure out who I am.
Questions I’d Ask Characters
A Few Things You Might Be Wondering
You don’t need to know what therapy will be like or what you’ll say when you get here. Here are a few questions you might have before we begin.
-
That’s completely fine. You don’t have to start with the hardest thing. We can talk about something else, take a walk, play a game, or sit quietly. We’ll figure out where to begin together.
-
No. Most of what you share in therapy stays private. There are a few safety exceptions I’ll explain clearly. If I ever need to involve your parents, we’ll talk about it beforehand whenever possible.
-
Not necessarily. We can talk in the office or take therapy outside for a walk. Some people find it easier to talk when they’re moving and don’t have to sit face-to-face. We might even grab a cup of chai while we walk.
-
You don’t have to be excited about it or know whether it will help. You can give it a try, see how it feels, and decide whether having some support is useful.
Still Curious?
Still figuring out what you think? That’s okay. Here are a few places you can go from here.
